At least 125,000 fully vaccinated Americans tested positive for Covid

. Even among those very rare breakthrough cases, we have seen very few illnesses serious enough to require hospitalization."

In Oklahoma, where cases are up by 67 percent, state officials broke down the data to show that for residents who got Johnson & Johnson vaccine the incidents of breakthrough were greater at 160 per 100,000 people compared to 93 per 100,000 for Moderna.NBC News contacted health agencies in 50 states and the District of Columbia to collect information in the absence of comprehensive data from the Centers for Disease Control on breakthrough cases.

Dr. Marcus Plescia, medical director for the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, says federal and state officials are still trying to understand the breakthrough rate especially when people who take at-home tests are under no obligation to report the results to health departments. And he says while there are concerns that the percentage of breakthrough cases may be higher in the elderly and immuno-compromised than was once thought, the vaccines are still effective.

Even among states that track cases closely, officials cautioned data is likely incomplete. Vaccinated people who are infected but asymptomatic are probably largely missing from statistics.

Experts turn to antibody treatment following swarm of breakthrough COVID-19 infectionsReports of uncommon breakthrough cases among fully vaccinated Americans, coupled with the delta variant tearing through the country, threaten to undermine the fiercely fought wins against the pandemic. For the fully vaccinated who do test positive, if you are at high risk for severe infection, health experts are now turning to Food and Drug Administration authorized, virus-fighting monoclonal antibodies in some cases. 'Receiving antibody treatments in a timely manner could be the difference of ending up in the hospital or getting over COVID (quickly),' Dr. Shmuel Shoham, infectious disease physician at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, told ABC News. Foolish to take a free vaccine and then have to pay for insulin and cancer treatments so they'll take antibodies from people that recovered from covid, but won't recognize previous infection as a proof of immunity? makes sense

What is a COVID-19 vaccine 'breakthrough' case? What is a COVID-19 vaccine “breakthrough” case? It’s when a fully vaccinated person gets infected with the coronavirus. In studies, the two-dose COVID-19 vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna were around 95% effective at preventing illness, while the one-shot Johnson & Johnson shot was 72% effective, though direct comparisons are difficult. I am fully vaccinated and still take precautions, I worry LESS about getting infected but know rationally that it is possible, still, I am grateful for the vaccine. AP this is a opinion YOU ARE PROPAGANDA!!!! Means Vaccinated caught it ............ I see people never learned that a vaccine isn't meant to keep you from getting it 100% of the time. The vaccine reduces the severity and length of illness and would prevent infection all together if everyone was vaccinated (see small pox and polio).
