State and federal prosecutors have recommended the “immediate removal” of CEO Fabio Scharvtsman and three other executives from “any functions or activities” at the firm, newspaper Folha de S.Paulo said, citing the document in which the recommendation was made. The document, sent to Vale, gives the company 10 days to respond. If the firm does not remove the people in question, prosecutors may request that the people be imprisoned, Folha reported.

Behind Vale’s Deadly Dam Collapse: Multiple Warnings That Went UnheededFor months, signs of danger raised worries among inspectors about the safety of a giant mine-dam perched over a town in Brazil. And yet the safety firm, worried about losing business, blessed the structure. Prosecutors are now looking into collusion between Vale and the contract inspector. Please note that in 2016 a bigger tragedy happened and is still not solved. The victms of both Brumadinho and Mariana have no perspective of having their lives back due to the lack of responsibility from the company to the people. DARNIT WSJ! Who the heck uses the term 'scores' today. Is this the lazy journalists way of circumventing the job and uses a term to obscure the fact that the number of people killed is an unknown integer? Not to mention other dams are being “investigated” and the citizens around them are afraid and have no where else to go.
