Fishermen like Jose da Cruz have made their living for decades hunting for crabs among Brazil's mangrove forests. But this livelihood is facing a series of threats - including rapid alterations to the environment caused by climate change via NachoDoce12

A battery-powered radio may be his principal connection to the outside world, but Cruz knows about global warming.

Globally, scientists have warned that water temperatures are increasing far faster than expected, which drives rising sea levels. Climate change and human development are putting 1 million species, a large share of which live in marine environments, at risk of extinction, according to a report published this year. These changes in turn are threatening the dozen or so families in Cruz's village that depend on the coastal ecosystem.

Mangroves cover 13,989 square kilometers along Brazil's coast - an area larger than the U.S. state of Maryland - and are a vital protection against climate change, according to biologist Renato de Almeida with the nearby Federal University of Reconcavo da Bahia. One acre of the ecosystem absorbs as much or more carbon dioxide as a similar area of Amazon rainforest, he said.

NachoDoce12 It's too late. FAR too late. The monstrous scam that is human caused climate change has long since been exposed as nothing more than the closed minded religious dogma of the Holy Church of Climate Change.

NachoDoce12 Then you should get the biggest polluters in the world India and China among others to meet us at where we are in standards. That’s the only way this would work. We are doing more than enough in comparison. It’s their turn.

NachoDoce12 No one, including this guy’s family, would drive a single mile less to preserve mud puddle crabbing as a way of life.
