The Braves scored four runs off of two Dodgers relievers in the ninth inning and went on to win Game 1 of the NLCS 5-1 in Arlington, Texas.

Fried added and subtracted velocity like a mathematician, beguiling the Dodgers with a 75-mph curveball and then humping his fastball up as firmly as 98-mph. He struck out nine Dodgers, and five of them featured swinging strikes on pitching velocities with at least 18 mph difference.

The only blemishes for either man? Home runs, of course, with Enrique Hernandez, part of the Dodgers’ righty-heavy lineup against Fried, crushing the lefty’s hanging breaking ball for a game-tying solo home run in the fifth to match Freeman's. With two on and nobody out, Roberts employed his de facto closer, Brusdar Graterol, to punch the Dodgers out of the jam. Dustin May, the long-limbed, red-haired fireballing rookie, took over for the seventh and got the first out of the eighth before lefty Victor Gonzalez cleaned up his mess. With usual closer Kenley Jansen in limbo after an NL Division Series Game 2 disaster, Roberts opted for Treinen.

Dodgers match up as superior to the Braves everywhere but in the bullpenLike the Dodgers, the Atlanta Braves are unbeaten in the playoffs entering the NL Championship Series, but L.A. is better in nearly every category. Dodgers relish chance to play with fans in stands in 'a step back toward normalcy'Game 1 of the NLCS between the Dodgers and Atlanta Braves will be the first MLB game with a significant number of fans in attendance in 2020. Dodgers relish spreading COVID19 during a deadly pandemic❗️ SuperSpreader “It’s definitely exciting,” Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen said. “I think it’s a step back toward normalcy, where people have the right to be free and make a choice to go out and do what they want to do. If they want to come to a ballgame, come to a ballgame.' Playing baseball in front of people getting a virus contained, a virus which has killed 215,000 Americans, = a step back to normalcy and freedom? Extreme selfishness is why the USA is on a highway to ruin.
