A Blackwood boy facing off with a Bracken boy in House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 3

The Big Picture In House of the Dragon Season 2, the Targaryen Civil War has come to Westeros. With Rhaenyra and Aegon each claiming their father's throne, the kingdom is forced to pick sides. But, while the Targaryen conflict destabilizes the kingdom, other families have been enemies for much longer. The Targaryen rift began with Rhaenyra and Alicent's falling out in House of the Dragon Season 1.

Release Date August 21, 2022 Cast Paddy Considine , Olivia Cooke , Rhys Ifans , Matt Smith , Eve Best , Steve Toussaint , Emma D'Arcy , Milly Alcock , Emily Carey Seasons 4 What Happened Between the Blackwoods and the Brackens? George R. R. Martin created an extensive history for Westeros. His novels and supplementary materials lay out much of the history. But giving a sense of reality to the fantasy world is Martin's tendency to leave some things open-ended.

But war presents an opportunity and the two families are eager to fight each other at the slightest provocation. Before the series returned for its second season, the teaser trailer gave another look at this rivalry, showing a man wearing the image of a red horse drawing a sword. This appeared to be a Bracken, as their banner features a red horse on a yellow background.

How Is the Battle of the Burning Mill Different in 'Fire & Blood'? The Battle of the Burning Mill is not exactly the same in the show and the book, yet both times it is the first true battle of the Dance of the Dragons, making it significant. Fire & Blood does not have the battle arise from a land dispute, but it occurs after Lord Samwell Blackwood sends out raiders, causing the Brackens to march on the Blackwoods, surprising them at their camp by a mill near the river.
