The first episode of Voices of the Community drops Thursday at IndyStar.com as well as podcast outlets.
But it’s about the people who quietly live their lives behind the scenes, working to make sure the people in Indianapolis have a better quality of life. You know the people who spend long hours focused on helping others and never toot their own horns because they’re too busy working. They lead organizations that are the glue holding our city together.
My first guest will be Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame member Eunice Trotter. Trotter, a former editor of the IndyStar, former owner of the Indianapolis Recorder, author and genealogist, is now director of the newly formed Black Heritage Preservation Program at Indiana Landmarks. In the episode, we discuss her new role, what the Black Heritage Preservation Program is and why it’s important to preserve Black heritage in Indiana.
