A Florida boy who was bullied and laughed at for his homemade T-shirt representing the University of Tennessee Volunteers at his elementary school’s college colors day has not only had his design made official by the university – but the demand for the product is so high that it crashed the school’s website.
When the day finally came the boy showed up to school wearing his orange shirt with a piece of paper attached to it with his homemade design of the University of Tennessee logo drawn on.“After lunch, he came back to my room, put his head on on [sic] his desk and was crying. Some girls at the lunch table next to his had made fun of his sign that he had attached to his shirt. He was DEVASTATED,” according to his teacher.
“I don’t even know where to begin. I am so incredibly amazed at the outpouring of love and support for my student!! So many people have reached out over the last 24 hours and I have truly lost track,” Snyder said in an updated post. Because of this, my student will be receiving an awesome care package from the University of Tennessee tomorrow morning! I’m so excited to share this with him !!”“My student was so amazed at all the goodies in the box.
The University of Tennessee’s interim president even tweeted about how touched he was by witnessing this whole experience take place.

Good for him! Standing up for 'his team' is laudable. Kids bully others nowadays mostly over THINGS. They probably thought he should have a very expensive UT shirt! Good for his mother, too, for standing behind her son.
mochamomma, this type of bullying is why we stopped “Collegiate Days” at work. But this campaign by UT was a nice touch. Shout out to ericalongatl for having people donate to Perkerson Elem. last yr so all students would have a college shirt.
During football season I get made fun of for having a Tennessee alumni license plate.. so I feel his pain.

TennesseeVolsFB I live in Texas about an hr north of Austin and was a huge Horns fan when I was like 7. My dad got me a Vols Starter jacket thinking it was Horns and I caught so much hell for it that that it went into a drawer may have to. Never to see light again may have to change that.

This is a great response by Tennessee, but to be clear, the only “bullying” mentioned in the article was two girls teasing him at lunch. This is more about taking advantage of an opportunity to do self promotion in the public eye (but at least UT donated profits to charity).
