I would submit that this is because Kong Skull Island and Godzilla KOTM`s were both so good everyone expect K vs G to be awesome. It is not. I am sure there will be another film in the franchise but I will wait for the reviews before going to see it.
King of Monsters was one of the worst movies I've ever had the misfortune of watching. The plot was a hapless mess that could have been tossed together by a self important toddler, and the characters were completely 2 dimensional. GVK was pretty good though regardless.
