“Caribbean couture” brand Botter received the 2022 ANDAM Grand Prize.

, including jury president and Chanel president of fashion Bruno Pavlovsky, Kering chairman and CEO François-Henri Pinault, LVMH Group chairman and CEO Sidney Toledano, and Instagram’s director of fashion partnerships Eva Chen, Botter could be seen tweaking the outfits of his models. “Make sure you lift your arms up, right?” he instructed one, the better to show off a blouson jacket constructed from an upcycled pair of trousers whose legs had morphed into arms.

Mentorship is what the Hong-Kong born, London-based designer Robert Wun entered the competition for. Reflecting on the €100,000 Special Prize he won as runner-up to Botter—a new addition to the prize lineup this year—he beamed: “I think the money is going to help us to debut our first physical show. This will be a great opportunity to take that big step, and to grow our family. But what’s just as important besides the grant is the mentorship.

The ANDAM Prize, which was founded in 1989 by Nathalie Dufour and this year boasted support from Instagram and Mytheresa.com, aims to attract global talents and induce them to set up businesses in Paris. In addition, Dolly Cohen won the Accessories Prize of €50,000, while the Innovation Award of €70,000 was picked up by Ever Dye, a French start-up developing an ecological dyeing process that minimizes energy consumption and production time-frames.
