Bonds, Jeter named honorary captains for Rickwood ‘Fan Jam’ celebrity softball game

The Fan Jam is part of a “Barnstorm Birmingham” event and Juneteenth celebration in conjunction with the following day’s MLB at Rickwood Field game between the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants. The Fan Jam celebrity game, set for 7 p.m., will be televised by MLB Network.Bonds, a seven-time National League Most Valuable Player and MLB’s all-time leader in single-season and career home runs, played 15 seasons with the Giants.

Jeter, a five-time World Series champion with the New York Yankees, was a first-ballot inductee to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020. He spent his entire 20-year career with the Yankees and was a 14-time all-star. Among the celebrities set to play in the game are former MLB first baseman Ryan Howard, former MLB pitcher CC Sabathia, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, NFL quarterback Jameis Winston, Pro Football Hall of Famers Terrell Owens and Dwight Freeney, NBA champions Stephen Jackson and JR Smith, TV star Omari Hardwick, boxing champion Alycia Baumgardner, and actor/comedians Lil Rey Howery, Phoebe Robinson and Roy Wood Jr.
