On Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, aircraft parts maker Spirit AeroSystems announced it is laying off 2,800 employees at its Wichita facility due to the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max.
WICHITA, Kan. — Aircraft parts maker Spirit AeroSystems has announced it is laying off 2,800 employees at its Wichita, Kansas, facility due to the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max. Kelly’s administration already had said it was considering using the state’s fund for unemployment benefits to pay part of the salaries of Spirit workers, so that they could remain in their jobs.
Spirit is a major supplier on the 737 Max program, making about 70% of the airplane’s structure including the entire fuselage and other parts.“The difficult decision announced today is a necessary step given the uncertainty related to both the timing for resuming 737 production and the overall production levels that can be expected following the production suspension,” Spirit AeroSystems CEO Tom Gentile said in a prepared statement.
Wonder how many Aviation expert’s type here. Not one Max crashed in the US wonder why
Wonder how long they could subsist on their canned CEO's 60+million golden parachute
ACTORVIST_PRLFQ 🤷🏼♀️if your product is killing people then you’re not likely to stay in business.
That’s cuz they made bad parts that made airplanes crash?! Yes or No
'At least I got my MAGA hat! ' 👀
Thank you trump!
Maybe the CEO’s nice exit package should be funneled toward laid off workers.. since you know it’s his fault anyway
I mean he is responsible for rolling back corporate regulations for profit and not filling federal regulation positions... nobody can argue against that. 😏 🇷🇺 👌 KAG2020
They should produce more parts for Airbus.
Former Boeing chief Dennis Muilenburg should pay their unemployment checks! He’s to blame!
kairyssdal How’s the deregulation will create more jobs theory going, given this was a result of Boeing ask to set the regulation?
That's a lot of families.

Thanks Pelosi.
So the Koch anti-regulation obsession impacts their home town?
Friend of mine that I play online with works there. It’s awful to see that.
Better than more people dying
This is a result of degradation in the industry 👍
These job loses are squarely on Boeing senior leadership.
Sad to see. 😞
