By Andrew Tangel Updated Oct. 11, 2019 6:39 pm ET Boeing Co. ’s board stripped Chief Executive Dennis Muilenburg of his dual role as chairman on Friday following two deadly crashes of its 737 MAX jet.
David Calhoun, a private-equity executive who has been the board’s lead director, will become its chairman, the company said. Mr. Calhoun said in a statement the board has “full confidence in Dennis as CEO and believes this division of labor will enable maximum focus on running the business with the board playing an active oversight role.”
Better late than never
Ayyyy
The news that Southwest had pull over a dozen 737s due to cracks in a main wing structural element, on planes that have been heavily used, that this smells the same.
Before I would fly again in a 737Max, I would want the top Boeing execs to fly across country three times!
That's not much of a punishment. Shouldn't he be in prison along with the head of the FAA? Or do the lives of brown and black people not matter? They were effectively guinea pigs. The FAA wanted to give Boeing a US company a competitive advantage so compromised on safety checks.
Too little too late
How about they make him fly one?
They'll just replace him with another shill
That’s a good move, he was too slow to act. He should have been ahead of events as soon as the lion air flight went down. They would have taken an initial stock price dip but would have quickly rallied once they saw him act to resolve the issue.
This should replace all senior management of the company, not only the CEO.
great
Why hasn’t the entire c-suite of Boeing been replaced? They’re literally murderers.
It’s right decision. In my head he should be fired because accountability matters.
KingfiSherKhan dude you won the bet , as discussed on WhatsApp, you prediction came true
Still pocketing a hefty bonus no doubt

One person shouldn't have both jobs anyway. What kind of control is that?
Is Boeing's BOD trying to push the CEO out on the optics of the prolonged recall of the 737 Max? Tough situation for management to be in. BA has unflinching analysts support but their communication about progress of software fixes for the 737 has not gone that well.
Wow! It might just take Dennis Muilenburg more than 34 tons of jet fuel to ever get off the ground again.
