The spacecraft failed to reach the proper orbit after an 'automation' error.

"This is in fact why we test," NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine said at a news conference Friday.

"And when that prop got burnt it looked like we weren’t able to go ahead and rendezvous with the International Space Station," he added. The Boeing CST-100 Starliner spacecraft, atop an ULA Atlas V rocket, flies during Orbital Flight Test to the International Space Station from launch complex 40 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Cape Canaveral, Fla.
