Boeing now says it is cutting thousands of jobs.

Financially beleaguered airlines are deferring and canceling orders for new planes. In April, Boeing did not book a single new aircraft order for the second month this year and airlines canceled orders for 108 jets. The company is moving to cut costs to match that slump in its core business. Calhoun announced in April that the company would need to reduce its workforce by 10%, meaning 16,000 jobs would be need to be eliminated.

They got the stimulus money, so makes sense job cuts is next. Thats how these corporations work.

Does this mean that they have to give back all that paycheck protection money?

And what an incredible differance in air quality. At lease where I live.

What do you expect. China bombs us with this virus and most are going broke. Not a good sign for people who want to work. Even the crooks are having to baby sit. NPR you nerve.

Go back to building airplanes that don’t fall out of the sky and that don’t have trash left behind the assembly process and Boeing wouldn’t have to lay anybody off.

didn't they get a disproportionate share of the funds available in the 'stimulus?'

Boeing profits: 2017: $17.4 Billion 2018: $19.7 Billion 2019: $4.5 Billion Jan-Apr 2020: $152 Million The CEO works for the shareholders, not the employees. It doesn't matter that they're still profitable; they'll send people packing to protect executive portfolios.

Where’s trump’s tweet about the failing Boeing Corp. ?!?!

😢

They didn't focus on important emerging issurs like Hepa filter segregated HVAC in the planes. travel comfort and service. They've become complacent like McDonalds service

It will all bounce back. Flew last week on a new Boeing that put any Airbus to shame.

I’m wondering if realDonaldTrump is going to celebrate these job losses like the jobs at TheAtlantic

No bail out. Those scammers.

It's not really necessary to cut all those jobs, they can just fly the planes around empty so people can get practice. Then when the customers come back they'll be better than ever.

Yes but twitter is fact checking Donald’s bullshit. That’s like, so much more important than 38 million unemployed and counting.

We warned you all POTUS was bad for the economy.

I thought Trump promised that everything was going back to the way it was, even better?

3 years of a bull market and record profits, and corporations can't weather 6 months to protect their own workers?
