Maintaining a verified user account with a blue check mark on Twitter may start costing $20 a month as Elon Musk shakes up the social media platform he recently acquired.

Twitter is considering offering verified accounts to users who are willing to pay $19.99 a month for a subscription service, and it may take away the coveted blue check marks of existing users if they don't start paying for the product within 90 days, according to internal Twitter documents viewed by CNN.

It's also unclear if some verified users may be exempt from paying the fee; many international organizations and charities, for example are verified on Twitter. Substack, meanwhile, is cashing in on the chaos. “We shouldn’t need to fret so much about a dictator holding dominion over a vast digital media empire,” says cofounder Hamish McKenzie. This your employee? SubstackInc So far not much has changed on Twitter at all as far as I can tell. Musk has been very cautious and conservative so far. Can't help it if people lie frequently and group think rules the day. SubstackInc The loss of connections is a serious effect of .elonmusk’s venture into words away from tech. In tech left and right are clear. In human affairs not. He makes us lose friends if we are not careful and smart. He follows 126 accounts, mostly information sites. Most people connect.
