They can’t stand the fact that we are excellent in our studies , and back in the day they tried to say that we were not smart and the white students , but we have been proving them wrong for years so the need to give us what we worked for honestly
Please know...this happens A LOT! My daughter dealt with this same type of blatant discrimination in GA during Presidential student council elections. They GAVE it to an Asian student with ZERO leadership experience bc of fear of Asian flight. Shredded votes...and everything!

Sad that what they have to do
It's sad as late as 2016 a federal judge had to rule that the school district couldn't maintain its historically black and white high schools. This should've changed when Brown vs the Board of Education ruled against segregation. I guess Mississippi didn't understand that.

PattyArquette We see this & it's WRONG. It's also wrong to give higher pay to one w/less experience, education, & knowledge b/c they're black. I witnessed the latter at the same job, twice. 1 promoted into mgmt. without merit. Until we stop the madness on both sides, it will only get worse.

Our local high schools gave up valedictorian/salutatorian decades ago. Every senior has a chance to turn in speeches for graduation, and two are chosen.

Were Ms. Jones' courses indeed less rigorous than the white student's? Unless we know exactly what each student took, there is really no way to know from this article whether there is any merit to her allegations or not.
Seems wrong. Changing and reweighing GPAs is fishy no matter the reason. Who decides what is a “rigorous” class anyway? Any GPA over a 4.0 seems iffy.
The most disrespected woman in America is the black woman.. Hence the reason why this quote is even said and repeated by many. Stop fearing the black woman & just embrace her/us. Damn 😩
