Birmingham-Southern drops first game of College World Series

The Birmingham-Southern baseball team gathers for a team photo at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio, site of the 2024 Division III Baseball World Series.An impressive and heroically rowdy contingent of Birmingham-Southern fans made the trip to Eastlake, Ohio, for the Division III Baseball World Series.

Birmingham-Southern fell into a 7-0 hole against Salve Regina, a team from Newport, R.I., but nearly climbed out with a late-innings rally. The Panthers scored one in the sixth and then four in the seventh off a series of singles. “At the beginning of the season, if someone tells you that I’m going to put you in this scenario at the beginning of the College World Series competing for a national championship and you’re going to be 0-1, I think we’d all take that.”
