During his 'Overtime' YouTube segment, Bill Maher offered a full-throated defense for Alec Baldwin, who is facing criminal charges for the 2021 accidental shooting of Halyna Hutchins.

"Real Time" host Bill Maher went to bat forEarlier this month, Baldwin was charged with involuntary manslaughter for theof Hutchins on the set of his film"Rust," which he was starring and producing.

"No," Maher responded."I mean, I don't know Alec Baldwin very well at all. He used to do this show, he stopped doing it years ago, I'm just setting this up like I have no personal, I'm not for him or against him. I like him as an actor, I don't really know him.

"It's not the producer's job either to check the guns!" Maher exclaimed."I mean, you have to be able to delegate some things in life, no?" Weiss then questioned whether there was a"motivation to go after" Baldwin because of his celebrity status. Maher responded by suggesting there's a broader reason behind the charges.

This aerial photo shows the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, N.M., Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021. Actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on the set of a Western being filmed at the ranch on Thursday, Oct. 21, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, officials said.

Bill Maher, why do you think that Alec should not stand trial for his actions. As Nancy kept saying, ' no one is above the law'!

leave it to the Judge your not the law just a yap yap fool

He been a Democrat to long

If you point a gun at someone intentionally, that is wreckless. If you accidentally kill someone, that's manslaughter. Fairly cut and dry. I know it would be if those unfortunate events befell me. I would get no breaks. What's the difference?

Not sure if he should be charged or not but this was definitely negligence. Guns don't just go off unless there is a defect. One thing for sure, Hollywood needs to come up to date and practice the same basic safety standards as any other organization that deals with firearms.

Well the course of law needs followed 🙄

Both are smucks!

Bill maher is full of 💩

Did Bill Maher suddenly get a Law Degree? Maybe Cornell switched his degree in English/History to Law?

If he had been drunk and hit her while driving a car should he be charged or is that a freebee too? He picked up a real gun and neglegently handled it resulting in death (allegedly). He is presumed innocent and will get his day in court.

WHOSE FINGER PRINT WAS ON THE SHELL ?

Everyone's the victim...but the victim...he didn't do it on purpose but he did it...

Bill is correct. Alec should not be facing any charges.

I had no idea they used live weapons on movie sets, and I find it unsettling that despite all the leftist mumbo jumbo that comes from Hollywood that they still own or control caches of firearms.

If that was Bills sister Iwonder what his response would be.?

Someone needs to be held accountable for this woman’s death and usually it’s the shooter.

he had the gun he pointed the gun he pulled the trigger, Take that to court and see what happens

He has alot of little people, gonna be a grandfather, going to send his oldest daughter Ireland over the edge she's already having problems with her pregnancy. No one has a heart for him NO one is helping him He's not a killer nor a murderer!! It was a job!!

Exactly!!

Unless he was a patsy, if he was not part of the plan!

I don’t like Baldwin. He is arrogant, presumptuous, a typical inflated Hollywood balloon, but he certainly has no fault for shooting a weapon that was supposed to be safe, and wasn’t , certainly not because of Baldwin

Was waiting for him to return liberal

fingerprint the MURDER WEAPON!

Yes he should you never point a gun at someone, you assume it is loaded. Will smith has great video on this from “bad boys”

Real deadly ammunition should never be anywhere near that set. Someone loaded that gun... Blanks don't look like normal bullets they have no led and instead simple crimped ends. I've used blanks many times in US army. They cannot be mistaken for real bullets and vice versa.

Talking about killing someone whose family will not see them again in this life time. He was not a professional checking the gun he was pointing at her. Maher is a joke and always has been. A leftist talk show host who's lips flap in the liberal winds. Slobbering on America.

Whose hand was the gun in when it discharged? Did that individual inspect the gun to verify it did not contain live rounds? Revolvers can discharge without pulling the trigger buts it's uncommon and normally involves a some type of impact or someone playing with the hammer.

Plaxico Burress A Black Man did 2 years for Shooting Himself. Let the Woke White Liberals Explain Why Alec Baldwin should do less for Murdering another Human Being ? Then March against Police because 5 Black Cops Killed another Black Guy.

He should face charges as we would for a similar incident. He intentionally pointed a gun at the victim and pulled the trigger that resulted in the loss of an innocent life. He knew better but still did it. He failed basic gun safety. He knew better.

Hey Billy, if it were YOU standing in front of that loaded gun you'd think differently.

He’s guilty!

phuck baldwin he killed her on purpose whos fingerprints were on the bullit

He killed a person and seriously injured another. He should 100% face charges!

So the man who holds the gun and pulls the trigger isn’t at fault? Right… He’s not just an actor, he was the producer and has a responsibility for safety. The first thing anyone is ever taught about handling a firearm is to treat it as if it were loaded. He didn’t.

Man points gun at woman and pulls trigger, woman dies….what would you call that Bill?

The question is NOT did he accidentally shoot and kill someone but rather is he responsible. This is what the jury will have to decide.

Whenever you pull the trigger on a firearm, you are directly responsible for what happens next. Mr. Baldwin will soon learn this. The Judge will not care that he’s an actor.

We get it. It was a terrible accident. Unfortunately, the accident took a life and there is fault. The DA has charged appropriately. Let this be a lesson to the rich and shameless, you are not above safety, training, and plain common sense.

There is nothing wrong with a gun or a handgun until someone pulls the trigger. Baldwin held the gun when it discharged & killed a person. The rest is pretty much irrelevant. Premeditated or involuntary, it’s still a murder. Oops, unless you’re a celebrity. Remember OJ. Simpson?

Why Alec Baldwin Could Be Found GuiltyDespite the appearance of an accident, prosecutors may have good reasons to charge him with criminal negligence. Because he is guilty. You are responsible for the firearm in your possession. Why he could be found guilty is because: 1. Never checked the firearm he was handed 2. He pointed a real gun at a woman 3. Cocked the hammer 4. Pulled the trigger I don't think he will be found guilty, though I do think he is responsible

Andrew Cuomo claims Alec Baldwin facing charges so prosecutor gets 'headlines' and media attentionFormer New York Governor Andrew Cuomo suggested the charges against actor Alec Baldwin in a deadly movie set shooting were politically motivated. He worships the devil! So he needed a sacrifice…jail his A$$ Who cares about either of them I agree! He wasn't the person who loaded the weapon and the weapon was handed to him for the scene. Movies are make-believe so why would he ever anticipate that the weapon would have real ammunition?

Alec Baldwin being convicted of involuntary manslaughter will be an 'uphill battle': Legal experts explain whyProving Alec Baldwin committed involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins is going to be an 'uphill battle,' legal experts explained to Fox News Digital. He is just as responsible as someone who runs a red light and kills someone. Negligent Homicide. He should have checked the gun. Maybe Libs should learn this stuff. Hope he does some time behind bars. If a conservative actor - like let’s say, Scott Baio 😂’accidentally’ mishandled a REAL firearm and shot two people - the media would blame him, scream about guns, and say it was ‘ultimately his responsibility to check if gun is safe’. But since it’s liberal blow hard Baldwin …. Picked up a gun, pointed it at someone and pulled the trigger resulting in death. Anything else is just trying to complicate the issue.
