Bill Cosby granted appeal in Pennsylvania sexual assault case

PHILADELPHIA — In a stunning decision that could test the legal framework of #MeToo cases, comedian Bill Cosby has won the right to fight his 2018 sexual assault conviction in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Secondly, the court will examine Cosby's argument that he had an agreement with a former prosecutor that he would never be charged in the case. Cosby has said he relied on that agreement before agreeing to testify in the trial accuser's civil lawsuit. But a year later, after the #MeToo movement exploded in the wake of reporting on Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, the judge allowed five other accusers to testify at the retrial. The jury convicted Cosby on all three felony sex-assault counts.

GOP's police reform bill leverages funding to 'compel' change: Sen. Tim ScottSen. Tim Scott, author of the GOP-backed police reform bill, says that the legislation would leverage federal funding to compel change in local police departments. If local departments don’t comply with the law, they won’t be eligible for federal funds. Makes sense to me. Just like when fed money was tied to the 55 mph speed limit, the states complied. They’ll do anything to keep the money flowing. You sold out to a turtle and ladybug So...the 'honor system'? What could go wrong...🙄

GOP's police reform bill leverages funding to 'compel' change: Sen. Tim Scott'It is important for us to use the resources that we provide law enforcement in a way to get them -- to compel them towards the direction that we think is in the best interest of the nation, of the communities that they serve, and frankly of the officers themselves,' said Sen. Tim Scott in '...provides incentives for police departments to curb controversial practices, such as chokeholds, but does not explicitly prohibit them...' This is nothing more than some 'trickle down' nonsense, with actual deaths ☠️ TimScottSC is obviously a 'party first' kinda guy.
