, which amends local zoning to permit warehousing and indoor recreation southwest of the intersection of Route 33 and Woodward Drive.a coffee and tea merchant who also owned horses as well as Freehold Raceway, located just a few miles west of Gaitway, a play on the word, which refers to a horse’s running style, as in trotters or pacers. Fischer died in Freehold in 2011, leaving the farm in control of his sons, Kenneth Jr., Gary and Jeffrey Fischer.
In addition to warehouses and indoor sporting venues, other uses under the plan include light industry, and the agricultural activity that already goes on there. To help offset whatever new construction may occur as a result, the plan calls for 100 acres of the redevelopment area to be preserved as open space.
In an interview earlier in the week, McNaboe said the township had been contacted by a lawyer for individuals interested in developing warehousing on the site. The lawyer, Kenneth Pape, did not return a call. McNaboe said the farm was in financial trouble, and that at least some members of the Fischer family were in favor of a sale.
Socially distanced members of the public attended a Manalapan Township Committee meeting on Wednesday, in opposition to a redevelopment plan, later approved by the council, that will allow warehouses to be developed on the site of the Gaitway Farm standardbred horse training facility off Route 33.
thanks to higher purses and online wagering, after years of declines in attendance and betting at the track. She wasn’t alone., the state’s harness racing trade group, told the committee via Zoom that loss of the training facility, “would be a devastating blow to our members.” “How much can one highway handle?” Pat Butch, a resident of neighboring Millstone Township, said after the vote.
Oooh property taxes …
Bad move Mo.county! More warehouse blight with no increase of skilled labor.
In need of redevelopment. Lol
Disgusting
Somehow I don't see the residents in Manalapan allowing warehouse on that magnificent open space.

Painfully clear unintended consequences happening here, in Jackson, West Windsor and elsewhere, FairShareNJ. Municipalities that have settled with you are now actively blocking affordable housing by rushing to put anything else on our remaining greenfield. And admitting as much.
Very short term thinking.
What a shame. Money does talk, indeed! Meanwhile Phillipsburg is gradually turning into a huge truck depot. God forbid a mere 225 acres can be left undeveloped in this state!
Terrible...
Just what NJ needs more of: warehouses.
So sad to learn of this.
Yay! Garden state to the warehouse state ❤️
This is so NJ. It would a bit more NJ if a chemical plant bought it and contaminated the land while playing Bon Jovi then it wound Really be NJ
