After Hurricane Sally around a dozen trees were removed. Upgrades include a major overhaul to the historic fountain and stonework enlarging the center plaza -- as well as the surrounding brick-scape seating and new landscaping.
“It’s really nice -- I know they cleared out a lot of trees. It’s a lot less shade,” said David Harris, Mobile. “It’s wide open -- it looks like they can have events here... I think they did a good job!”“I notice now you can walk up to the fountain -- I think it used to be fenced off. I noticed some people put their coins in there. Maybe they’ll get their wish come true,” said Harris.“The sense of preservation of the old architecture is appealing to me -- it’s very cool.
“Mobile has a long history -- and it’s great to have a center in our town that people can come to.
