Biden announced sanctions against 32 companies and individuals that are aimed at choking off lending to the Russian government and in response to the 2020 hacking operation that breached American government agencies and some of the nation’s largest companies. In a statement, Psaki said Biden was acting on advice from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The restrictions “will be implemented in light of extraordinarily high COVID-19 caseloads and multiple variants circulating in India,” Psaki said. Biden’s order will ban entry into the U.S. by foreign nationals who have traveled to India within the last 14 days, a White House official
