President Joe Biden offered “profound gratitude” to law enforcement officers who responded to the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection as he signed legislation to award them Congressional Gold Medals. The award is the highest honor Congress can bestow.

The president thanked the officers for saving the lives of members of Congress during those “tragic hours” of the attack seven months ago.

Some of the officers, including four who testified at a House hearing last week, have spoken openly about the lasting mental and physical scars.“My fellow Americans, let’s remember what this was all about,” Biden said of the siege. “It was a violent attempt to overturn the will of the American people, to seek power at all costs, to replace the ballot with brute force. To destroy, not to build. Without democracy, nothing is possible. With it, everything is.

The officers testified at the first hearing of a new House committee investigating the insurrection. Most House Republicans have staunchly opposed the Democrat-led panel, which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi proposed after Senate Republicans blocked the formation of a bipartisan commission. House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy has called the committee a “sham” and criticized Pelosi for rejecting two of the members he tried to appoint to the panel.

At least nine people who were at the Capitol that day died during and after the rioting, including a woman who was shot and killed by police as she tried to break into the House chamber and three other Trump supporters who suffered medical emergencies. Two police officers died by suicide in the days that immediately followed, and a third officer, Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, collapsed and died after engaging with the protesters. A medical examiner determined he died of natural causes.

I found it to be moving. How much the children seemed to love the president. We have a duty to our country and to the families of these heros to get to the truth about the events of January the 6th and hold those responsible accountable. Make the rebels scream.

Why aren’t they wearing mask

At least they showed amazing bravery. Not like Trumps appointees. Rush Limbaugh? Seriously? Sports players? Really? Sports players are rewarded with amazing salaries and accolades from fans. Nothing to compare with these officers.

The few left who haven’t “committed suicide”

When is the agent that killed an unarmed female rioter going to be charged with murder?

Including Capitol Police Officers who participated in the attempted coup? awkward

I still do not understand why the video of that day is not being released.

Maga Patriots, they demand you “back the blue” and LOVE our Constitution and country while physically and verbally attacking the Capitol police officers who fought to defend our Constitution and country.

That way they’ll stop doming themselves.

I don’t feel sorry for anyone, caught or not, that did anything destructive that day. But to call this an insurrection and not all the other cities that were devastated, closed down and suffered more on account of BLM and ANTIFA is straight up hypocrisy!

Poor Joe is just going though the motions. All he wanted was his milk and cookies. Right after this ceremony he asked “Have I been good today?”

4 officers who responded to Jan 6 died by suicideDr. Jim Gordon is the Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, and has been helping law enforcement officers process the trauma of what they experienced during the attack on the Capitol. He joins Geoff Bennett to discuss what these officers are facing. My deepest condolences 🙏 Gym Jordon says the samething about the kids in school that he failed to protect, from being molestered by his buddies. Is SpeakerPelosi connected to their suicides?
