President Joe Biden on Tuesday touted his electric-vehicle and infrastructure plans in a visit to a Ford Motor Co. plant in Michigan, framing his proposals as giving the U.S. a competitive edge against China.
Expect a starting price of around $70,000 for Ford’s all-electric F-150 Lightning, Car and Driver has predicted. Loaded models will hit six figures. By comparison, the gas-engine 2021 F-150 Lariat, the entry-level model, starts at $45,195. The F-150 has been the top-selling U.S. vehicle since 1981. “President Biden believes it is time for this to change and for the U.S. to lead in EV manufacturing, infrastructure, deployment and innovation,” the White House said.
