A year ago, President Joe Biden braced for the worst as Russia massed troops in preparation to invade Ukraine. But as Russia's invasion reaches the one-year mark, the capital of Kyiv still stands and Ukraine has exceeded even its own expectations.

WASHINGTON — One year ago, President Joe Biden was bracing for the worst as Russia massed troops in preparation to invade Ukraine.

In the estimation of the White House, the war transformed what had been Biden's rhetorical warnings — a staple of his 2020 campaign speeches — into an urgent call to action. Sustaining Ukraine's fight, while keeping the war from escalating into a potentially catastrophic wider conflict with NATO, will go down as one of Biden's enduring foreign policy accomplishments, they argue.

The U.S. resolve to stand up to Russia is also being tested by domestic concerns and economic uncertainty. This month, 11 House Republicans introduced what they called the "Ukraine fatigue" resolution urging Biden to end military and financial aid to Ukraine, while pushing Ukraine and Russia to come to a peace agreement. Meanwhile, the more traditionalist national security wing of the GOP, including just-announced 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley, a former U.N. envoy, has critiqued the pace of U.S. assistance, pressing for the quicker transfer of more advanced weaponry.

The U.S. has provided more economic and military aid than any country since the start of the war, but European nations and other allies have collectively committed tens of billions of dollars to back Ukraine and have taken in millions of refugees fleeing the conflict.

What exactly are we getting with our continued support to Ukraine? We've given quite a bit of money, is it all 'no-strings-attached' or will we see massive discounts on good from Ukraine?

Ukraine is the 51st state? Biden and the media both take better care of ukraine than America.

This year my refund was only $1,560.And I was wonder how is that dork 'Zelensky' didn't took them either.

Ukraine has exceeded even its own expectations... Of how gullible the US is and how much money they have been able to milk from the wallets of struggling Americans! I say, 'Not one done more!'

Mean while America is going to hell in a handbag!

Biden is the stereotypical corrupt politician war monger. A lot of people are getting rich from this non accountability billion dollar giveaway.

Remember a year ago when we were told this would be over in three weeks? Now, we are funding pensions in Ukraine when the American people are struggling to buy necessities

Joe Biden says the American people must pay THE PENSIONS of people in Ukraine now. This is on top of the $100+ BILLION we’ve already given Ukraine. In 🇺🇸 we have multiple cities without drinkable water, broken infrastructure and hungry families. We need to put America FIRST!

Of course, they’re doing great because they’re using American taxpayer money. And there seems to be no end of it. Joe is printing it off and sending it to Ukraine as fast as he can.

Imagine what 200 Billion would do for the usa. For our veterans, retired, bridges, roads, etc. Ukraine? The most corrupt country on earth with no strings attached. It will be back in the politicians hands within a year.

People worrying about giving Ukraine money need to understand that, not only are we helping a sovereign nation repel an invasion, we are testing a bunch of weaponry without having to put our own troops at risk and DRAINING a geopolitical foe.

Ukraine leaders are as corrupted as our president and his administration. We need to be focused on helping people in our own country and not everyone else. Ohio needs our help.

Stop giving the Ukraine taxpayers money.

And our tax dollars paid for it.
