After days of progressives fuming over the failure to prevent the federal eviction moratorium from expiring, the White House abruptly shifted its calculus on Tuesday and enacted a new ban

during his presidency. They’ve been pleased at the pace and diversity of judges being named to federal trial and appellate courts. And in a meeting Tuesday with Latino leaders, the president was well-received for reiterating his pledge to pursue a reconciliation package that provides a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

“Are we going to agree on everything? No. And there's no expectation that we don't express our frustration when we have it,” Jayapal added. Though the White House has effectively maintained good relationships with progressives, some expect that those partnerships will be truly tested this coming fall.

“Increasingly, you're going to see people use the leverage that they have in Congress to extract concessions from the White House.”

Headline should be, 'Biden forces landlords to provide free housings for three more months.'

TheDemocrats & especially the dscc are acting as if the same old political tricks will help them in 2022 & beyond. They don't seem to be aware of the existential threat to democracy that these voter suppression & election subversion bills represent. VotingRights

The Democrats and Pelosi dropped the ball and now Biden is helping them by agreeing to break the law.

At some point you have to take one of the many open jobs and start paying your rent...what us the incentive? And what is the best way to help the economy?...Economics

Maybe the title should instead be: “Biden keeps people in their homes”. Seems more appropriate and more accurate

Have they looked around the country? Businesses are short staffed. Places are closing early, or not open at all on some days. What is the motivation to work, if the government continues to send such large scale handouts?!? How will they ever repay their rent?

Progressives need to start a new 3rd Progressive Party so Americans can have a real democratic choice when voting.

It took embarrassing Biden personally to get him to do the right thing.

And.the relief was felt across the country, as families w err e not rendered homeless

....and you shouldn't need to be categorised as 'progressive' nor be having to be 'fuming' to want to have people in the uptick of a ravaging pandemic not get thrown out of their abodes....Really? What is this...Still Trump time? Be Better Biden & Co....

So, exactly how to you think these landlords are going to fare not getting paid to pay the bills themselves? More in depth debt is a good thing?

Lol “shifted its calculus” ? It did a thing that, the very day before, it said it had no power to do (and that it had quadruple checked it didn’t have the power to do). Shifted its calculus!!

How much longer? What about the mortgage lenders? Maybe there is?

Expiration of eviction moratorium leaves White House and congressional Democrats scramblingWhite House officials on Monday described a behind-the-scenes scramble over the weekend to locate any legal avenue for the administration to continue barring evictions. The effort ultimately came up short, the officials said. You’d have to get congress to you know… pass legislation! I know its scary cause they would have to be accountable. As it should have. We don't need moratoriums. Businesses have been begging for workers for months. I just think this was going to have to end. How long can you live for free? I really worry for anyone in this position but we all knew it would end.
