President Joe Biden talks with reporters on the Ellipse on the National Mall after spending the weekend at Camp David, Monday, April 5, 2021, in Washington.
The prospects for a massive infrastructure investment, once a bipartisan source of unity on Capitol Hill, have cracked and groaned under the weight of political polarization. Where Biden sees an urgency in going big, Republicans want a narrow plan that focuses on roads and bridges, and warn that any corporate tax increase would crush economic growth.
Speaking to reporters in Kentucky, McConnell said Republicans could support a “much more modest” approach, and one that doesn’t rely on corporate tax hikes to pay for it. Shepherding Biden’s proposal through Congress remains a work in progress, particularly in the evenly-divided 50-50 Senate, where Democrats have the majority because the vice president from their party, Kamala Harris, can cast a tie-breaking vote.
Administration officials have encouraged Republicans to talk more fully about what they dislike and would do instead, under the opinion that a battle of ideas will only help Biden gain support with voters.
Oh great to hear, so let's put the $15 an hour min wage in this next package. See how 'the parliamentarian' feels about it then. Senate Parlimentarian = Russiagate! Always gotta have a boogeyman. They make this shit up as they go. It's appalling!!!
This is what we voted you for, Democrats!!! Do the damn thing! Do ALL the damn things!!!

I’ve been a big critic of Biden for years, and I voted against him in the primary. That said, for the sake of our country, pass these bills. Debt is only bad if you’re wasting it. Infrastructure and green energy are worthwhile investments. Get it done.
I already love paying $1.00 more for a gallon of gas since Biden took office. Can’t wait to pay more on everything else.
Republican job killers!
So the same as the trillion dollar Obama infrastructure bill that spent a whooping 6% on construction of any kind.

Just not around manchin
So, there is no need to remove the filibuster, is it? Oh, Dems have more legislative agenda to implement before they lose the majority after 2022 like, um, raising minimum wages to $15/h.
Republicans attempting to block progress? Hold on, I need to practice my 'shocked' face...
with the dead and dying commercial office market in Pittsburgh and ALL this spending on transit, there is no need for all those Pittsburgh bridges. I think you may be right
This is good! Our infrastructure might improve.
Didn’t Trump Pass 2 Stimulus In One Year ?🤔🇺🇸
We voted for TheDemocrats to hold the Senate, House, and POTUS for a reason. Let’s get things done without LeaderMcConnell
It shouldn’t happen with economic stimulus.

How would biden know what the world is doing when he doesn't do anything
Republicans piss and moan about infrastructure every god damned election cycle. When they geg in office infrastructure takes a back seat again. They just don't want dems to steal one of their campaign talking points.
Republicans will take credit for it.
It's imperative that we keep the House and Senate in 2022.
There would only be one reason that the GOP would attempt to block this bill..it would be successful and boost the economy..and they do not want the DEMS to succeed..if they succeed, they get high approval in the polls, if they succeed, they win elections..simple isn't it.
we going to get really busy!!!
😃👍Good!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does US news media hold government accountable any more? Fiscal responsibility Confronting propaganda? How about investigative journalism Seems there are lots of angles to look into 🤷♀️
