El presidente Joe Biden informó el jueves que 74 ciudadanos estadounidenses con doble nacionalidad han salido de la Franja de Gaza, y además dio a conocer que el secretario de Estado Antony Blinken realizará un nuevo viaje a Oriente Medio para una reunión con los dirigentes de Israel y Jordania sobre la guerra entre israelíes y Hamás.

“Hoy sacamos a 74 estadounidenses que tienen doble nacionalidad”, dijo Biden en breves comentarios a la prensa durante su recepción al presidente de la República Dominicana, Luis Abinader, en la Oficina Oval. La Casa Blanca ha dicho en el pasado que entre 500 y 600 estadounidenses se encontraban dentro de Gaza desde el inicio de la guerra entre Israel y Hamás, el 7 de octubre.

Blinken impulsará la evacuación de más extranjeros de Gaza y el envío de más ayuda humanitaria al territorio. Presionará a Israel para que frene los actos de violencia de colonos judíos contra los palestinos en la Cisjordania ocupada. Y destacará la importancia de proteger a los civiles, a pesar de que el gobierno estadounidense aún no ha emitido alguna crítica a Israel por los ataques que han matado a miles de civiles en Gaza.
