Biden administration officials in the Bureau of Land Management on Monday announced plans to return to Obama-era rules for oil and gas development in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska

A northern section of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska on the state's North Slope.

The plan approved under Trump opened an additional 7 million acres to industry leasing, or about 30% of the reserve, making a total of about 18.5 million acres on the western North Slope open to development. However, since 2013 a handful of large oil discoveries have been made around the Teshekpuk Lake area, most notably ConocoPhillips’ $8 billion Willow prospect.

Kristen Miller, acting executive director for the Alaska Wilderness League said the Trump administration’s changes to the NPR-A plan were rushed and violated multiple federal environmental laws.“Returning to the 2013 management plan is the right move and will restore protections to the reserve’s critical special areas, in particular Teshekpuk Lake.

Seeing as how western AK is dissolving and our permafrost is disappearing, maybe this is a good thing.

Ugh. Stay out of Alaska.

Am I wrong, or has Congress weighed in since Obama’s BLM made their plan? I’m sure Biden is planning to put into effect this new legislation. If not, I can think of better example of a previous republic being replaced by a regulatory state.

Biden shied away from news conferences, interviews in Year 1In what's become a familiar scene, President Joe Biden lingered after delivering a recent speech on the pandemic as reporters fired a barrage of questions. “I’m not supposed to be having this press conference right now,” Biden said at the end of a meandering response that didn't directly answer the question about Manchin. Seconds later, Biden turned and walked out of the State Dining Room, abruptly ending what's become his preferred method for his limited engagements with the press. I’d walk out to if, I was just doing a sufficient job. With all the BS I'd walk to. State the information and walk. What an embarrassment
