The Biden Administration has announced the cancellation of $7.4 billion of student debt, benefiting 277,000 borrowers. The relief will be delivered to Americans enrolled in the SAVE Plan or approved for income-driven repayment plans and public service loan forgiveness.

The Biden Administration said Friday it will cancel $7.4 billion of student debt in another round of loan forgiveness that will benefit 277,000 borrowers. The debt relief will be delivered to Americans enrolled in the SAVE Plan or approved because of updates to income-driven repayment plans and public service loan forgiveness , according to a news release from the White House.

Its growth has stalled. Its funding is crunched. Now Northside ISD faces an $84 million deficit. Adjustments to income-driven repayment plans and public service loan forgiveness will bring more than 70,000 borrowers closer to forgiveness. Around $3.6 billion of the debt relief will go to borrowers enrolled in the Biden administration’s SAVE plan with smaller loans for their postsecondary studies.
