On Friday, March 5, the singer-songwriter shared an a cappella video tribute dedicated to 13-year-old, who passed away that same day after battling Anaplastic Ependymoma, a form of brain and spinal cord tumors. Lyric’s journey has been carefully documented on Instagram by her family, acquiring support and sympathy from hundreds of thousands of followers, including plenty of celebrities like Bey and Cardi B.

The musical medley incorporated Lyric’s name into the words of “Love on Top,” with Beyoncé saying in her speaking voice at the end, “I love you with all of my heart.”, “I’m so grateful that Lyric was able to hear you sing to her before she left this world.”, the singer-songwriter sent Lyric a bouquet of flowers in September 2020 after the young fan underwent brain surgery.
