The Bexar County Adult Detention Center passed its annual inspection, with state officials noting a boost in morale among deputies and inmates, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reported. Inspectors from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards noted two areas of improvement, which were “immediately corrected,” the sheriff’s office said.

The inspection report noted that during the walkthrough of the jail, the doors of housing units for maximum security single-cell units were unsecured. The open doors allowed inmates to “freely” go between housing units, presenting a potential security issue. That freedom of movement could result in inmate-on-inmate violence, according to the report.
