White lived with her family on the third floor of an apartment building at 218 Pleasant Street in Oak Park from her birth in January 1922 until she was a little over a year old, when she moved with her family to Southern California. White then spent the rest of her childhood in Southern California. “What the song means to me is that it gives a chance for all the people that I love in my life, wherever they are, to hear me on a daily basis if they want to,” Fee said in an interview. “‘The Golden Girls’ theme song has been great — it makes people who know me feel close to me. And Betty deserves everything — although I never met her, I know a number of people who did.
Schumann said that while working with White on the set, “to say it was like a masterclass, that actually doesn’t begin to cover it.”
