A majority of polled Democrats said the Vermont senator was best-placed to be the candidate to unify the party, despite suggestions that he would be divisive.

Bernie Sanders is the best candidate to unify the Democratic party as it heads into the 2020 elections, according to a new poll.found that a plurality of registered Democratic voters felt Sanders was the primary candidate most-suited to unify the party, putting him two points ahead of Joe Biden.

A further 2 percent of surveyed voters said"some other candidate" was most likely to bring Democrats together.Republican voters polled on other issues for the survey were not asked for their view on who would best unify the Democratic party.

He later added,"There's a majority of the American people who I think, right now, just want to be able to turn on the TV, see their president and actually feel their blood pressure go down a bit instead of through the roof."
