More than half a century before Bernard Arnault became the world’s richest person, he finished his studies in civil engineering and mathematics at French university Ecole Polytechnique in 1971 and began working as an engineer at the construction firm founded by his grandfather in the northern French city of Roubaix. By 1979, he rose to become chairman of the company.

He spent hundreds of millions of euros a year in 2021 and 2022 purchasing more shares of LVMH.

It’s like fire and water.”Arnault supports four main areas with his charitable donations: heritage preservation, medical research, education and training, and the arts. He has made gifts to a variety of groups and organizations, but mostly has chosen not to disclose the amount he’s given.
