Baylor wants to add a touch of green and gold to basketball’s blue bloods

North Carolina, despite its six national championships and powerhouse status, never has won consecutive titles. After a string of championships by blue-clad UCLA in the late 1960s and early 1970s, only Duke and Florida have won back-to-back titles. “I got the chance to know Scott Drew when I was with ESPN and spent so much time doing Big 12 games,” Davis said. “And when I was on GameDay, we had one in Waco, so I was able to spend some time with him there. Not only is he an outstanding coach, but the way he relates to people and his players — they love playing for him.

North Carolina crushed ninth-seed Marquette 95-63 on Thursday in the tournament’s first round, sending new Golden Eagles coach Shaka Smart home early from the postseason, something he’d grown accustomed to over six seasons at Texas.
