The forthcoming taqueria is expected to open in Oakland's Rockridge neighborhood.

Schnetz told SFGATE that he got keys to the space early last month. Initially, he was hesitant about the site's tiny dimensions but after giving it some thought, he reasoned that the space would be perfect for a taqueria. Schnetz will open the new restaurant alongside Jorge Rosales and Juan Zarate Jr., former employees at Xolo.

Schnetz previously owned Flora restaurant, which closed its doors in 2019 after 13 years in Oakland. Flora was revered for its stiff cocktails, as well as for helping revitalize uptown Oakland’s restaurant scene.
