With the longtime Western Conference rivals meeting in a back-to-back Saturday and Sunday,...

LEVALLOIS-PERRET, FRANCE - JANUARY 27: Victor Wembanyama of Metropolitans 92 looks on during warmup before the Betclic Elite match between Metropolitans 92 and Roanne at Salle Marcel Cerdan on January 27, 2023 in Levallois-Perret, France. At 13-49, the Rockets sit at the bottom of the NBA, mired in an 11-game losing streak.

Does it all come down to this? Probably not, since both teams are fully capable of returning to the bottom of the standings even if they should stumble into wins this weekend. So Jeff, I can argue that the Rockets deserve to get the big guy more because they have gone through three miserable seasons, instead of just one. Some might say the Spurs should have the karmic advantage because they have been this lousy for just one season. What do you think? If it’s up to us, who gets Wembanyama? Or as I call my future friend, Vic?Hey, that’s Mr. Wembanyama to you.

The poor perimeter defense exposes Sengun’s defensive limitations. He has not made a lot of progress with that. The league’s worst 3-point percentage has forced Green to drive into crowds and increase his own inefficiency. So I’d say there has been development, but not enough for the young guys, even Green, to carry their team to success or guarantee they one day will.McDonald:

But in this day and age, I’m not sure it matters anymore. You just pick five guys who can play and figure out positions later. And though I’m no international scout by any means, I’m going to go out on a limb and say Wembanyama can maybe play a little. It is remarkable that Pop has so entirely embraced the rebuild and its struggles. How is he holding up?In all seriousness, Popovich seems to get it too. Coaching a roster full of teenagers has taken him back to his roots at Pomona-Pitzer, complete with a bushel of losses. He seems to be enjoying the teaching aspect of the job without the daily stress of having to compete for championships.

After that, I think Brandon Miller would be a pretty good addition, especially for the Rockets, who do not have Sochan or Vassell. The Thompson twins — Amen and Ausar — would be a good value for a team with the worst record that could fall, but poor-shooting phenomenal athletes don’t exactly fit the needs of the worst shooting team in the league.
