OAKLAND – Longtime BART Board Member John McPartland announced his immediate resignation Monday, citing family matters, according to the commuter rail line.
The board of directors also has the option to call a special election, but that is not a “practical option” due to the timing of the November election, BART said in a news release. The appointee must run for election to the seat on Nov. 5 if they wish to continue serving beyond Dec. 6.
