Baltimore leaders pressed agencies, including BPD, for answers on how to address a sharp increase in car thefts.

Baltimore City leaders pressed several agencies for answers Monday on ways to address a recent sharp increase in car thefts .The Baltimore City Police Department, Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, Department of Juvenile Services, Maryland Department of Transportation and the Baltimore City Sheriff's Office all attended the hearing at city hall. The idea was to get everyone in the same room to address car thefts and carjackings.

City leaders pressed the agencies on how they are communicating with each other and working together to hold those responsible, especially youth offenders, accountable.'I think it is important for MONSE, for our other partners to have services that are available to support young people, and that we all have a role, whether its government or community parents or grandparents,' Cohen said.
