Bald eagles across the United States are dying from lead bullets -- but it's not because they're being shot.
The Cape Fear Raptor Center, North Carolina's largest eagle rehab facility, has treated seven eagles in the past month for lead poisoning, executive director Dr. Joni Shimp told CNN. Since November, at least 80% of the eagles the facility has euthanized were put down because of lead poisoning.Indiana officials need help finding this eagle's killerHunters use lead bullets to kill deer and other animals.
Duck hunters and migratory bird hunters are inadvertently killing bald eagles and goldens eagles with their lead pellets in their prey of ducks and geese. The eagles capture wounded fowl and die from ingested lead. Not all hunters follow the law and use steel pellet cartridges.
We have a lot of eagles in my our area. They eat all of the rabbits, squirrels and even our cats. Mine is missing right now. They are a nuisance. Love them but they are viciousness.

Uhhhhhh...Noooo. Eagles are not carrion eaters. They survive on rodents, fish, and other birds which they kill. People don't hunt any of these with bullets. Lead shot for duck hunting has been banned for many years (it's now steel).
So animals are shot and killed for sport and just left to rot, sad , makes you wonder who is the animal , being an animal doesn’t have intellectual intelligence

Hey Virgil.... Eagles aren’t dying from eating deer with slugs in them. When was the last time you saw an Eagle flying to its nest carrying a dead deer carcass? They are dying from eating water birds who ingest lead shot while bottom feeding. The answer is STEEL Shot.

Hate to tell you, but bald eagles are no longer a threatened or endangered species. A couple of simple facts for you. 1. Hunter's use steel shot, not lead shot when hunting migratory waterfowl. 2. Most carion bald eagles consume is road kill, not lead poisoned.

Wrong! First, copper bullets are not a sol'n - that would only cause more hurt animals runing around. Second, what about lead fishing supplies? Way to advocate a non-sol'n. Right sol'n - better hunter education.
