SCRANTON , Pa. (AP) — President Joe Biden returned to his birthplace Wednesday for the first time since taking office, declaring his multitrillion-dollar safety net and infrastructure packages would restore an America starving for investments in its workers, families and the environment.

that was the centerpiece of Biden’s strategy for fighting climate change.“Nothing is decided until everything is decided,” said Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., the leader of the Congressional Progressive Caucus after a morning meeting of House Democrats. “We’re just trying to get it done.”

The Democrats appear ready to abandon what had been a loftier package in favor of a smaller, more workable proposal the party can unite around — all to be funded by tax hikes on corporations and the wealthiest individuals, those earning more than $400,000 a year though those details are still being negotiated.

“Here’s the deal: If you spent $3 on your coffee this morning, that’s more than what 55 major corporations paid in taxes in recent years,” Biden tweeted. “It’s wrong — and it’s got to change.”ADVERTISEMENTYet a day after Biden outlined his ideas for trimming back some components to lawmakers, it was clear that the effort remained a work in progress as several Democrats signaled they were still fighting for their priorities. Biden said he thinks a deal is within reach by the time he departs for a global summit late next week.

Democrats are growing anxious they have little to show voters despite their campaign promises and have had trouble explaining what they’re trying to do with the massive package, made up of so many different proposals. In scaling back the bill, they are heeding the political realities of the 50-50 Senate, where Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona have objected to Biden’s expansive plans.

The Democrats are also trying to coalesce around a politically marketable theme: helping middle-income families weather the COVID-19 economic fallout, while also taking on tax code inequities and the looming threat of climate change. It’s a tall order that was leading to an all-out push Wednesday to answer the question — “What’s in the damn bill?” as a press release from Sen. Bernie Sanders, the independent from Vermont, put it.

Biden felt “more confident,” press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement late Tuesday after his meetings with lawmakers that stretched into the evening.“There was broad agreement that there is urgency in moving forward over the next several days and that the window for finalizing a package is closing,” she said.

Bullshit This is a perfect example that there should be a cognitive test for older politicians , I watched Biden on CNN yesterday in Scranton and he just rambled on just like my grandfather … I don’t want stupid stories when cost of living is skyrocketing prices ,Who really is in control Scranton? Call me crazy but wouldn’t West Virginia or Arizona be more useful?

MY RESEARCH Get that money Biden 💰 To you ladies. Live to fight another day. Rome, wasn’t built in a day. Assure yourselves the next election, increase your majorities than get more programs passed. Republicans are not interested in Rules nor Regulations. They are Anarchists impersonating Republicans.

Reminds me of the time Hitler visited his birth place. Did Biden stop by Dunder - Mifflin? Asking for Dwight. The Biden spending bill will be devastating for working families as jobs leave the country, inflation eats more income & tax pass-throughs reduce take home pay.

4 Signs That Biden May Not Cancel Student Loan Debt On A Mass ScaleWill there be mass student loan forgiveness? The push continues, but there are several signs that it may not happen. Of course he's not trump he can't keep his promises. Lots of buyer's remorse with him Let's go Brandon!

I wonder how much of this spending will eventually go into construction, and more will go into the pockets of politicians, I'm afraid. Let's go brandon 'trimmed' and then 2 Trillion have you all gone mad? Hopefully we can find this guy. Biden make it happen. Look if you want the GOP to be behind spending $2T, tell them it’s a war.

The White House is floating new ways to pay for President Biden’s $2 trillion proposal for expanding social services and tackling climate change. The possibilities include a tax on the investment gains of the very richest Americans. Is he touting the fact that his own party is keeping the $1T infrastructure bill hostage?

He actually cut the entire bill. There is literally nothing left in there Let’s pay the seniors more, encourage only 2 children instead of rewarding those who have them just for a pay check. Let people retire at 55 and draw their money that they paid in. Stop welfare fraud, ssi fraud, Medicaid fraud, get corporations out of healthcare

The last thing GOP want is Biden helping the Country / American people and then getting credit. GOP focus is to stop all progress even though it hurts Country and people. They are not leading, they are destroying.
