“The Bachelor” reality TV star Michael Allio, an Ohio native, announced Thursday he has created a GoFundMe fundraiser to help East Palestine residents whose lives were upended Feb. 3 by a fiery train derailment.

, Allio makes a pitch for contributions that will be donated to The Way Station, a charitable organization that serves the area.

“They provide emergency assistance, nutrition, job training, emotional support, basic household items so that these people can get back to their regular life,” Allio says. “Let’s see if we can support our fellow Ohioans and come together during this really important moment in their life and help them get back on their feet.”The train laden with toxic chemicals caused havoc in the small town of about 5,000 people when it derailed and burst into flames. Toxic chemicals leaked from derailed cars.

Residents initially were evacuated. Once allowed to return, they have continued to press officials on the long-term health concerns. The EPA says testing shows the air and municipal water in East Palestine are safe, but residents at a town hall meeting this week
