San Diego State's all-time passing leader will mentor QBs for team that ranks last in the nation in passing offense

Ryan Lindley was among the nation’s most prolific passers when he played at San Diego State.

The Union-Tribune reported Saturday night that Hecklinski was out and that associate head coach/runnings backs coach Jeff Horton was replacing him as offensive coordinator. SDSU hosts the Rainbow Warriors on Saturday night, then is off the following weekend before resuming the second half of the season.

In 2020, Lindley served as an offensive analyst at Utah before getting hired the following season as defensive analyst at Mississippi State, where former SDSU defensive coordinator Zach Arnett is the DC for the Bulldogs. He completed his career as the record-holder in several categories, passing yards, attempts , completions and touchdowns .

The transition to coaching actually began for Lindley a few years before his playing days concluded, when he began assisting college quarterbacks with predraft preparations. Lindley worked as a consultant for Rep 1 Sports, the company that represented him out of college.
