Some municipalities have canceled Australia Day festivities out of respect for indigenous people

SYDNEY—Tens of thousands of people skipped the usual picnics and barbecues during Australia’s national holiday on Sunday and marched in solidarity with indigenous Australians, as the country wrestles with whether it is doing enough to recognize the nation’s colonial past.

The holiday, called Australia Day, is at the center of the debate because it is held every year on Jan. 26, the date British settlers landed in what is now downtown Sydney in 1788. In recent years, at least six municipalities have canceled festivities out...

People who see racism everywhere they look are generally racists themselves.

The stone age tribes with no written history, no achievements in 40,000 years (not even having technology of the wheel!) are just jealous at what the white people achieved. January 26 is the day to celebrate. Call it Settlement day or whatever, but that's the day Aussies want

Look at these deranged white kids with their idiotic placards in Melbournistan! Feeling sorry for themselves for living in one of the greatest countries on earth. All they need is a Jim Jones to tell them 'jump over the cliff!' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Guilty white Australians ought to just leave the country and go back to Britain. Anything less than that is just fake virtue signaling. Have the courage of your convictions and give the country back to the indigenous peoples. You have no right to remain. Get out.

Here in Australia, every person I know wants it changed. It's our right wing government who won't change the date.

I just watched 'Wake of Fright' for the first time. Please cancel Australia. Thank you...

Their country needs to heal itself and the people realize that

It was just a matter of time

Its also rooted in selling unhealthy natural resources to communist china, but im sure they are ok with that

Sorry the Australian Dream is rooted in criminals being transported to Australia against their will, not racism.

What rubbish

This is the first time most of these protestors have been outside in years

Or they could just leave... And let the indigenous people have Australia back. Too much to ask?

Sadly, we have our Trail of Tears to reckon with and haven't.

'The Australian dream is rooted in racism' his sign says... errr.... That is both confusingly broad, and shockingly narrow. nice one. lol.

Always was, always will be

Let stop prejudices

European will be holding similar placards and banners in Europe within a decade due to the African/Asian invasion taking place here.

What about the Unborn?

Leftism is a disease that ruins everything it touches.

I mean, we are here and it is now. Further than that, all such protests are moonshine.

Liberals ruin everything they touch. Everything...

Indigenous peoples; Native American Indians killed & captured each other routinely over resources & reputations. Mayans wiped-out neighboring peoples for resources, land & power. History of indigenous peoples in internecine wars reaches back through history.

Wannabe intellectuals aren't allowed to celebrate holidays or love their countries, much like Jehovah's Witnesses, who rarely attend university. Horseshoe theory strikes again!

IGNORANCE DOES NOT BELONG IN GOVERNMENT. AT ANY TIME LET ALONE AT THIS TIME OF AN EXISTENTIAL CRISIS

yeah, how dare they celebrate their culture.

Indigenous people as nonbinding population to civil institutions what's interesting about some groups is that they don't totally belong to a city life organized as minor to school teenagers to college and jobs but ancestral spirits the unwritten non visual nonsense drama stories!

It's sad that Australia is infected by the insane left.

89% of the population support the day (keeping in mind the indigenous population make up 2.5% of the population and receive $35B + a year in welfare payments) double what is spent on non indigenous in need. How about a thank you day.
