AUSD Notes: Back from break, Alameda school year in last seven weeks

The community is hosting a small celebration Friday at the Alameda Child Development Center to celebrate the center’s new name, sign and coordinator of early childhood education, Jill Hunter, above.Now that spring has sprung and our students are back from their break, the Alameda Unified School District is barreling toward the end of the school year.The AUSD’s last day of school will be June 6, and high school graduations and middle school promotions will take place June 5-7.

The AUSD will also offer a free summer learning session for students who qualify for free and reduced-cost meals, are homeless or are foster youth, as well as an extended school year program for students who receive special education services and have summer learning in their education plans. We are excited to see these plans come to fruition and grateful to Alameda voters for approving the Measure B facilities bond in 2022. Speaking of the Alameda Child Development Center, the community is hosting a small celebration there this week at 5:30 p.m. Friday to celebrate the center’s new name, sign and coordinator of early childhood education, Jill Hunter.
