AUBURN , Ala. -
“Nicotine is addictive. And if you start an addiction early in life, it is really hard to stop it,” said Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Kathe Briggs. Auburn City Schools are combating the issue by installing sensors in school restrooms which are designed to detect vaping. The company is Vakada and the sensors detect chemical changes in the air quality.Justin Long is a System Administrator for Auburn City Schools. He says they began instillation over Spring Break and they have already seen positive results.
Long says the first month they started with close to two hundred vape events. That number has since dropped significantly.
