Carlo Bertazzo, who took over on Jan. 13 as chief executive of embattled infrastructure group Atlantia, said in an interview with Italian daily La Stampa on Jan. 24 that he wants to transform the Italian group into a holding company and open the capital of its units to outside investors.
Atlantia owns 88% of Italian motorway operator Autostrade per l’Italia , which risks losing its lucrative government concession after the August 2018 collapse of a Genoa motorway viaduct it operates killed 43 people. Atlantia also controls Rome airport operator Aeroporti di Roma.In the interview, Bertazzo said Atlantia would not rule out losing majority control of some of its units.
