The aviation industry and FAA have raised concerns about potential interference of 5G with sensitive aircraft electronics like radio altimeters that could disrupt flights. The FAA said in a statement on Sunday that it was "reviewing the latest letter from the wireless companies on how to mitigate interference from 5G C-band transmissions. U.S. aviation safety standards will guide our next actions."

Officials said the exclusion zones proposed by the wireless carriers is not as large as what has been sought by the FAA.The FAA and Buttigieg on Friday proposed identifying priority airports "where a buffer zone would permit aviation operations to continue safely while the FAA completes its assessments of the interference potential."

AT&T, Verizon CEOs reject U.S. request for 5G deployment delayThe chief executives of AT&T and Verizon Communications rejected a request by U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to delay the planned Jan. 5 introduction of new 5G wireless service over aviation safety concerns. Apparently, the Federal Government who controls dishing out permissions for all communication frequencies & allocations forgot their controlling power TO COOPERATE WITH NATIONAL SECURITY REQUESTS, unless we don’t think aircraft falling out of the sky is an emergency profits.

AT&T and Verizon may have to delay 5G deployments another two weeks over airline safety fearsNew deployments could interfere with altimeters and prevent the use of guided landing systems. Curious to know more..... If 5G was such a concern why aren't the UK and Europe doing the same? I mean the airlines are canceling all the flights anyway. Maybe the telcos should fire up the towers now.

US seeks new 5G delay to study interference with planesUS authorities have asked telecom operators AT&T and Verizon to delay for up to two weeks their already postponed rollout of 5G networks amid uncertainty about interference with vital flight safety equipment. So they wait until 6 days before roll-out to ask for a delay? For what, because the FAA hasn't updated all the obsolete altimeters yet. If I was AT&T and Verizon my answer would be: A self-induced emergency on their part does not constitute and emergency on our part. No delay.

WSJ News Exclusive | AT&T, Verizon Refuse FAA Request to Delay 5G LaunchAT&T and Verizon have rebuffed a request from federal transportation officials to delay the launch of new 5G wireless services I can understand this, after they have invested so much to get it up and running then to have this last minute request is sort of unfair. Instead, it would be more productive to invest in better airplanes, not ones from the 80s and 90s that have been failing on us. This is a blatant disrespect of the fact that Secretary Pete Buttigieg is a beloved Mayor of the LGBTQ community. So they will refuse FAA requests but still knell to vax mandates. Makes sense. $$$
