At least 4 dead after Surfside building collapse, county mayor says

President Biden is receiving updates on the building collapse in Surfside, Florida, an administration official says, and is expected to address the tragedy again later today at the White House.

That changed late Thursday evening when the governor’s office made the official request, a senior administration official said, and the declaration was announced by the White House at 12:43 am on Friday.

It is said the building was sinking more each year. The building officials were aware that it was sinking.

Looks like their offering them a drink a water though. Spraying the rubble with fire hoses will help or drown those caught in areas where water will retain. City should be held responsible for any that drown. Not smart thinking on their part.

Looking at the ruble pile it appears that this building was constructed using only concrete an rebar as there is no evidence of structural steel beams or columns. Very typical construction style seen in third-world countries. Civil engineers should be very concerned.
